BMW 3 Series Touring News

BMW has just debuted the new 3 Series Touring, with over 1.7 million Tourings sold since the launch back in 1987 BMW know how crucial a part of the 3 Series family it is, especially as 500,000 of the total number was made up of the previous generation.

BMW has used the same styling cues used on the current 3 Series saloon as well as the newest engines and chassis bringing the familiar feeling to the Touring. The new Touring has larger proportions than its predecessor adding 76mm to the length, 16mm to the width and 11mm in height with an extension of 41mm to its wheelbase, the front and rear track have also increased too, by 43mm and 21mm respectively.

The Touring still has the BMW DNA with the unmistakable large kidney grille long bonnet and slim LED headlights with U-shaped daylight running lights. The Touring adds an extended roofline with extra character lines which tie into the roofline at the rear. Roof rails will be standard across all full spec range they will be Black Matte on the SE Model and Black High-gloss Shadow on the Sport, M Sport and M Sport Plus Edition.

The cabin has been refined to be as driver-focused as possible, allowing the driver to concentrate on the road. A new instrument cluster and Control Display group the screens together putting the controls together in a functions panel separate from the screens. The start/stop button has been moved to the centre console alongside the gear shifter and iDrive controller.

There will be three trim levels for the Touring; SE, Sport and M Sport. The SE has a specific front and rear bumper design, exclusive 17” light-alloy wheels (18” wheels are optional), aluminium door sills and LED fog lights. Sport includes BMW Individual High-gloss Shadow Line Trim, with the kidney grille, air-intake trim and rear apron all in High-gloss Black and Exclusive 18” V Spoke light alloys. The Sport also gets heated sports seats wrapped in Vernasca leather. The M Sport receives large air intakes exclusive side skirts and rear apron. High-gloss Shadow Line trim, high-gloss black kidney grille and a Dark Shadow rear diffuser. On the interior an M steering wheel is added, an anthracite-coloured headliner and Aluminium Tetragon trim strips.

At launch an M Sport Plus Edition will be available exclusively in the UK, this will include the M Sport Plus package adding; sun protect glazing, adaptive M Sport Suspension, M Seat Belts, M Sport Braking System (for the 320d and 320d xDrive) and M Sport Differential (for the 330i and 330d xDrive). A set of exclusive 19” jet black light alloys are also included.
