BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe News
Since BMW launched the 6 Series Grand coupe in 2012, there has been a great success with the four-door versions of their coupes. The 2 Series Gran Coupe is the latest four-door coupe to be launched.
The 2 Series Gran Coupe shares the front-wheel-drive and AWD configuration as the 1 Series, it has a new chassis featuring a host of technological advancements to give a dynamic drive. A brand new design, the 2 Series Gran Coupe features bespoke exterior details including new taillights that reach far into the middle of the rear.
The 2 Series Gran Coupe features a sleek profile, with all four doors being frameless. It sits low and wide too, passengers have a comfortable amount of room inside with a wheelbase of 2670mm and 430-litres of boot space.
The headlights are angled a little, bringing focus on the kidney grille which fills the space between the headlights. The grille bars are contoured and have a vertical indentation giving a 3D effect on M Sport models.
The M235i xDrive M Performance is the range-topping model, it features a 2.0-litre petrol engine with 306hp and 450Nm of torque. 0-62mph takes only 4.9 seconds and has a limited top speed of 155mph. Consumption figures are 36.2-37.2 mpg (WLTP) and CO2 emissions of 153g/km (NEDC).
Another two engines are available; a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, which is available in the 218i and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine which comes in the 220d. The 218i has 140hp and 220Nm of torque, it reaches 62mph in 8.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 134mph, it can achieve 42.2-47.1 mpg (WLTP), CO2 emissions are 123-114g/km (NEDC). The 220d does 0-62mph in 7.5 seconds, on to a top speed of 146mph. The maximum power output of the 220d is 190hp, it has 400Nm of torque.
